At a glance
- You can browse designs, products, trends, designers and run the cost calculator without providing any personal data.
- Personal data is collected only in the app's two optional booking forms: the consultation form (name, mobile number and city) and the 1:1 designer-meeting form (the same three fields plus your email address, needed for the calendar invite). Both are verified with an SMS one-time password (OTP). Nothing else is asked for.
- Booking details go only to Interior Company's lead system so our design team can call you back — and, for a designer meeting, to Google Calendar to create the invite. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
- This connector is stateless: it stores no personal data at rest. Submitted consultation requests are retained in Interior Company's customer system as described below.
1. Who we are
Interior Company (interiorcompany.com),
an interior design brand of the Square Yards group, operates the Interior
Assistant app and its server at mcp.interiorcompany.com. Interior
Company is the data controller (data fiduciary) for the data described in
this policy.
- Controller
- Interior Company
- connect@interiorcompany.com
- Contact page
- interiorcompany.com/in/contact-us
- Scope
- This policy covers the Interior Assistant app / MCP connector only. Browsing on interiorcompany.com itself is covered by the website privacy policy.
Your AI assistant (for example ChatGPT by OpenAI, or Claude by Anthropic) is a separate, independent service. It processes your whole conversation under its own privacy policy; this policy covers only the data that reaches Interior Company when the assistant calls our tools.
2. Data we receive
2.1 Requests forwarded by your AI assistant (tool inputs)
When you ask your assistant something the app can answer, the assistant calls one of our tools and passes only that tool's input fields — never your whole conversation. The complete, current list:
| Tool | What we receive (input) | What we return (output) |
|---|---|---|
get_design_ideas | Optional room/theme keyword (e.g. "bedroom") | Design-idea gallery: titles, images, links |
get_products | Optional category/style keyword (e.g. "modular kitchen") | Product gallery: titles, images, links |
get_trends | Optional topic keyword | Trends articles: titles, images, links |
find_designers | Optional city; optional designer-name search text | Designer profile cards |
get_ai_design_tool | Optional room name | A link to the AI design tool page on our website |
estimate_interior_cost | Optional home size (BHK) and area bucket | Calculator configuration (rooms, services, packages) and serviceable cities |
calculate_interior_estimate / get_calc_estimate | Home size, area, package tier, selected rooms/services, kitchen shape and size | Indicative price breakdown and grand total |
get_calc_config widget helper | Home size (BHK), area bucket | Calculator configuration |
search_calc_projects widget helper | City and the project-name text you type | Matching residential project names |
get_calc_project widget helper | Selected project's id | That project's unit types (BHK) and sizes |
search_calc_address widget helper | City and the address/locality text you type | Matching locality suggestions |
book_consultation | Nothing | Opens the booking form and returns the list of serviceable cities |
book_consultation_send_otp personal data | Name, mobile number (with country code), city — as typed into the booking form | Whether the OTP SMS was sent |
book_consultation_verify personal data | The same three fields plus the 4-digit OTP you typed | Whether the consultation request was submitted |
list_designers | City; optional style/speciality/name search text | Designer cards: name, experience, homes delivered |
find_designer | City; optional designer name you asked for | The chosen designer and the dates they can be booked on |
get_designer_slots | City, designer id/name, the date you picked | That designer's free time slots on that date |
book_designer_meeting | City, designer id/name, chosen date and time | Opens the meeting-confirmation form (no personal data yet) |
book_designer_meeting_send_otp personal data | Name, mobile number (with country code), email, city, plus the designer/date/time — as typed into the confirmation form | Whether the OTP SMS was sent |
book_designer_meeting_verify personal data | The same fields plus the 4-digit OTP you typed | Whether the meeting was booked, and the Google Meet link |
Search and calculator inputs (keywords, city, home size, project name, locality text, room selections) are used only to answer that request. Note that a project or locality you search for may reveal approximately where your home is — these inputs are processed to return results and are not used to build a profile of you.
2.2 Consultation booking (personal data)
Booking a free design consultation is optional and always started by you. The form collects exactly three fields — full name, mobile number and city — plus the SMS one-time password used to verify the number. We ask for nothing else in this flow (no email, no budget, no property details). You type these into a sandboxed form inside the chat, and they are sent from the form directly to our server — they are not entered into the chat conversation itself.
Your submission is tagged with a source label (e.g. "AI Assistant") so we know the request came through this app, and it enables updates about your request via SMS/WhatsApp on the number you verified. In the cost calculator, the same form unlocks the detailed room-by-room price breakdown; the indicative grand total is shown without it.
2.3 1:1 designer meeting booking (personal data)
Booking a video meeting with a named Interior Company designer is also optional and always started by you. Choosing a designer, a date and a time involves no personal data. Only the final confirmation form collects it: full name, mobile number, email address and city, plus the SMS one-time password. The email address is required in this flow because the meeting is placed on a calendar and the invite — including the video-call link — is emailed to you. As with the consultation form, you type these into a sandboxed form inside the chat, not into the conversation.
On submission we create a lead in our customer system (tagged as a designer meeting) and create the meeting in the designer's Google Calendar, which emails the calendar invite and video-call link to you and to the designer. Your name, email and the chosen date/time therefore appear on that calendar entry. There is no reschedule or cancel flow inside the app — contact us to change or cancel a booked meeting.
2.4 Technical data collected automatically
- Server logs. Like any web service, our server and hosting infrastructure record standard request data (IP address, user agent, timestamps, requested endpoint) for security and troubleshooting.
- Abuse prevention. To stop OTP spam, the server briefly holds the mobile number of each OTP request in memory (a rolling window of up to one hour). This record is never written to disk and disappears automatically.
- Images. Galleries load images from Interior Company's CDNs
(
img.interiorcompany.com,cms.interiorcompany.com) andstatic.squareyards.com; those servers see the standard request data any image load involves. - No cookies or trackers. The in-chat widget sets no cookies and contains no analytics, advertising or fingerprinting code.
2.5 What we do not collect
- No account is created and no login is required.
- No payment details, precise geolocation, photos, or device contacts.
- No email address anywhere except the designer-meeting confirmation form, where it is required to send you the calendar invite (section 2.3).
- No conversation history — we receive only the tool inputs listed above, never your full chat.
3. Why we use the data (purposes)
- Answering your requests — returning design ideas, products, articles, designer profiles and cost estimates you ask for.
- Booking your consultation — verifying your mobile number by OTP, creating your request in our customer system, and having the Interior Company design team call you back; sending you updates about that request by SMS/WhatsApp.
- Booking your designer meeting — verifying your mobile number by OTP, creating the meeting in the designer's calendar for the slot you chose, and emailing you and the designer the invite and video-call link.
- Security and abuse prevention — rate-limiting OTP sends, diagnosing failures, protecting the service.
- Legal compliance — meeting record-keeping or lawful-request obligations where applicable.
We do not use this data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it. Consultation details may be used to follow up on your own enquiry, which you can opt out of at any time (see section 6).
4. Who receives the data (recipients)
- Interior Company teams and systems — our content backend serves galleries and pricing; our lead/consultation system receives booking details so the design team can call you.
- Square Yards group companies — Interior Company is part of the Square Yards group, which operates shared infrastructure this app uses: the residential project / locality search used by the cost calculator and the lead-management (CRM) system that stores consultation requests.
- Communication providers — SMS/WhatsApp delivery partners transmit the OTP and booking updates to your number, acting on our instructions.
- Google (Calendar / Meet) — for a 1:1 designer meeting only, your name, email address and the chosen date and time are sent to Google Calendar on Interior Company's account to create the meeting and email the invite and video-call link.
- Hosting providers — the infrastructure the server runs on processes traffic (including logs) on our behalf.
- Your AI assistant platform — tool inputs and outputs pass through the assistant you use (e.g. OpenAI or Anthropic), which is an independent controller under its own privacy policy. Note: your contact details and OTP are typed into the sandboxed booking form, not into the chat, so they are sent to us rather than into the conversation.
- Authorities — only if required by applicable law or a valid legal process.
We never share personal data with advertisers or data brokers, and no tool contacts services other than the first-party backends listed above.
5. How long we keep it (retention)
- This connector stores no personal data at rest. It is a stateless relay: tool inputs are processed in memory and forwarded to the backends above.
- OTP rate-limit records — mobile numbers are held in server memory for at most one hour and are never persisted.
- Server logs — kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymised in the ordinary course.
- Consultation and meeting requests — stored in Interior Company's customer system for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any resulting project, and thereafter only as required by applicable law. You can request deletion at any time (section 6).
- Designer meeting calendar entries — kept in the designer's Interior Company calendar as part of our business records; ask us and we will remove yours.
- Browsing and calculator inputs — not retained by the connector beyond serving the response (aside from the transient logs above). Your AI assistant may keep its own chat history under its own policy.
6. Your choices and rights (user controls)
- Use the app without personal data. Every browsing and calculator feature works without a booking form — including looking up designers and their availability. Only the consultation callback, the 1:1 designer meeting, and the detailed calculator breakdown require one.
- Booking is double-confirmed. Nothing is submitted until you enter the OTP sent to your phone — abandoning the form submits no request.
- Opt out of contact. You can ask us to stop calls or SMS/WhatsApp messages about your request at any time — tell the design team on the call or email connect@interiorcompany.com.
- Access, correction and deletion. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing connect@interiorcompany.com or via our contact page. For users in India, these rights are provided in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023; users elsewhere have the rights their local law provides. We respond within the timelines the applicable law sets, and you may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
- Withdraw consent. Where processing is based on your consent (the consultation request), you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.
- Disconnect the app. You can disable or remove the Interior Assistant connector in your AI assistant's settings at any time; after that, no further data reaches us.
- Your chat history — managed with your AI assistant provider (its export/delete controls), since the conversation itself never reaches Interior Company.
7. Security
All traffic to the server and to our backends uses HTTPS/TLS. We practise data minimisation (three fields — four, with the email needed for a meeting invite — collected only when you book), verify submissions by OTP, rate-limit SMS sends, and expose no personal-data read-back endpoints — the connector cannot be queried for stored personal data because it stores none.
8. Children
The app is intended for adults arranging interior design services and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has submitted a booking, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we add tools or change what data the app handles, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the change takes effect. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's listing.
